ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The Department of Biotechnology, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala, proudly announces BIO3: Biotechnology, Biomanufacturing, and Bioeconomy, a pioneering conference scheduled to take place from March 20 to 22, 2025. This three-day event is dedicated to fostering innovation, collaboration, and excellence in the realm of biotechnology and its transformative potential in shaping a sustainable future. Aligned with the visionary theme developed under the leadership of Dr. Rajesh S. Gokhale, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology & DG, BRIC, BioE3: Biotechnology for Empowerment, Entrepreneurship, and Economy, and reflecting the national mission of Viksit Bharat, BIO3 aims to catalyze discussions on leveraging biotechnology as a critical driver for self-reliance, economic growth, and global leadership.

The conference will provide a dynamic platform for scientists, academicians, industry leaders, policymakers, young innovators and students to share insights, showcase cutting-edge research, and explore strategies to harness biotechnological advancements for societal and environmental well-being. In an era marked by challenges such as climate change, food security, and health crises, BIO3 seeks to spotlight the indispensable role of biomanufacturing and the burgeoning bioeconomy. From synthetic biology and bioengineering to bioinoculants and sustainable agricultural solutions, the conference will delve into the innovative applications of biotechnology in addressing global challenges while fostering a circular economy.

About Patiala

Patiala is a city in southeastern Punjab, northwestern India. It is the fourth largest city in the state and is the administrative capital of Patiala district. Patiala is the erstwhile princely state of Punjab, which is situated in the Malwa region. The city covers a total area of 365 km. It is a judicious synthesis of a brilliant spectrum of Rajput, Mughal and Punjabi cultures and a fine blend of modernity and tradition. The City of Patiala is located around the Qila Mubarak (An original fort from where the city started evolving). It was constructed by chieftain ‘Baba Ala Singh’, who founded the royal dynasty of the Patiala State in 1763. The intricate and beautiful artwork of Phulkari, the bright colors of Patiala Pagadi, Parandi and Jutti, the largeness of the Patiala peg and the comfort of Patiala salwar, form the essence of the city of Patiala. The handicrafts of Patiala are intricate and beautiful like the Phulkari embroidery. Also, Juttis, a traditional footwear, the Patiala Turban and the Patiala salwar are known for their comfort and style statement.
